Skin imaging in systemic sclerosis.

Fibrotic involvement of the skin is a cardinal feature of systemic sclerosis (SSc). The extent of skin involvement is associated with internal organ involvement, coinciding with more severe disease course and poor prognosis. A palpation-based semi-quantitative score, the modified Rodnan skin score, is widely used for the assessment of skin involvement, but it is entailed by significant limitati...

Complex Shear Modulus Reconstruction Using Ultrasound Shear - Wave Imaging

Many pathological processes in tissues are recognized by morphological changes that reflect alterations of the soft tissue mechanical properties. Ultrasound shear-wave imaging can provide quantitative information about soft tissue mechanical properties, specifically the complex shear modulus. Advancing this field has the potential to bridge molecular, cellular, and tissue biology and to influen...

Constructive interference in steady state imaging of moyamoya disease.

The diagnostic accuracy of three-dimensional constructive interference in steady state (CISS) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging was evaluated for the assessment of idiopathic moyamoya disease. Six consecutive patients underwent MR angiography, CISS imaging, and digital subtraction angiography. MR angiography and CISS imaging visualization of the steno-occlusive changes in the distal internal caro...

A New Shear Wave Speed Estimation Method for Shear Wave Elasticity Imaging

In this paper, a novel method to estimate the shear wave speed is proposed. This method is a modified version of the lateral Time to Peak (TTP) method that estimates the induced shear wave speed. Lateral TTP algorithm finds the instance at which the maximum displacement is detected at each lateral location under examination at a certain depth. In the proposed algorithm each temporal displacemen...

Constructive Interference in Parallel Algorithms *

Parallel algorithms are developed in the setting of iterative multilevel methods. The constituent parts of the algorithms are dependent rather than independent as in conventional parallel algorithms. We develop cases and conditions wherein this dependence generates a constructive interference in the computation. The resulting parallel algorithms can then be more efficient than serial counterparts.
